Pop-Up Retail in Downtown Albion
During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is nice to avoid the crowds at the mall and opt for a local shopping experience. There are lots of great places to shop in downtown Albion and this holiday season there was one more, Collective Goods.
Collective Goods, Albion’s pop-up retail market recently wrapped up a successful six weeks! Sponsored by Albion Reinvestment Corporation and Pure Albion the pop-up shop activated the vacant storefront at 111 South Superior Street and created another downtown destination for holiday shopping. This shop was first of its kind in Albion and we were delighted by the community response and support.
This year, my family challenged each other to purchase all of our Christmas gifts in Albion. Our first stop downtown was the pop-up shop. I really liked how each vendor table was arranged and there were enough vendors to occupy both rooms. There were many things to choose from so we all ended up purchasing at least one gift. I hope that it will be back next year, with even more vendors – Cary Soltis, Albion Native, and Collective Goods shopper
For six weeks, Collective Goods was home to sixteen unique vendors from Albion and across Michigan. The vendors represented a wide variety of goods including children’s clothes and toys, handmade soaps, women’s clothing and accessories, olive oils and vinegar, and holiday decor. This mix of vendors provided a one-stop shop for wonderful holiday gifts and we loved seeing so many community members and visitors picking out the perfect Christmas gift.
Albion Reinvestment Corporation (ARC) imagined this holiday retail pop-up as a shopping destination to complement the other downtown businesses including Pure Albion, Stirling Books & Brew, The GreenScene Albion. As ARC continues to envision the future of downtown Albion with the community, the pop-up served as a way to understand what types of businesses Albion residents want in downtown.
Now that the pop-up has concluded ARC will continue to look forward into 2019 and how pop-up retail may continue in downtown Albion. Join the ARC newsletter or like Albion Reinvestment Corporation on Facebook to receive updates on similar events happening in downtown Albion in 2019.
